This broad flat muscle lies in the lojs or flank, between the twelth (lowest) riba and the brim of the pelvis, to which each end of the muscles attaches.
It acts in breathing in, pulling down the lower ribs to brace them so they can be an anchor pint for the diaphragm, which also attaches to them. they also bend the low back to one side and can also “hitch up “the pelvis on that side. When both sides work together they bend the low back backwards
